Arranging
Arranging contemporary a cappella pieces involves adapting existing music and notating it onto sheet music using music theory knowledge and commonly used SATB notation. As notes are placed onto the sheet music, creative decisions are made to decide which sections and in which order various elements of the original song would need to be placed, in order for it to be performed as best as it can by a live a cappella group.
If you’re interested in getting a song produced instead, whether a cappella or featuring instruments, please visit my Producing page for information on custom arrangements! Or, if you would rather view my previous works, please visit my Portfolio page!
Previous Arrangements
If you are interested in purchasing a piece I have already arranged previously, please visit my Portfolio page for the list! Each piece has its own page where you can view details about and samples of the piece!
Custom Arrangements
If you would like a custom arrangement made for you or your a cappella group, please fill out the form below! I will get back to you within 2-3 business days with price and time estimates, and am prepared to answer any and all questions along the way. I am also happy to arrange full competition sets at a discounted price!
If a more specific request is involved, such as a mash-up of two songs, or a medley of various songs, please email me directly using my Contact page with as much information from the form below that you can provide, and a detailed description of which songs are involved, as well as how you would like them to be arranged. Thank you!
For information on pricing, turnaround time, rush orders, and ownership, you’ll most likely find your answers on the right side of this page (or below the form if you’re on mobile!).
Ownership
After completing your custom arrangement, it will be uploaded to the Noteflight Marketplace for you to complete your purchase.* This also means your arrangement will become publicly available and able to be purchased by other individuals or groups. If you would like your arrangement to instead be withheld from the Noteflight Marketplace and be solely yours to keep, we can discuss a different way of me delivering your arrangement. The cost of this will depend on how long you would like to solely keep your arrangement.
Withholding an arrangement from the Noteflight Marketplace for 1 year will incur a 5% Fee.
Withholding an arrangement from the Noteflight Marketplace for 4 years will incur a 15% Fee.
Withholding an arrangement from the Noteflight Marketplace permanently will incur a 30% Fee.
If you are interested in withholding an arrangement from the Noteflight Marketplace for an amount of time not listed above, details can be discussed further over email on a case-by-case basis.
Furthermore, if the arrangement in question is to be used in competition, an alternate method of delivering your arrangement will be discussed and it will automatically be withheld from the Noteflight Marketplace until the end of the competition season for free. Fees will only be charged if you would like the arrangement to be withheld longer, starting at 1 year out from the end of the competition season.
*If the song is not available via Noteflight Marketplace licensing, an alternate method of delivering your arrangement will be discussed and you will not be charged a fee.
Turnaround Time and Rush Orders
All custom arrangement requests will have a turnaround time of at least 1 week. Depending on my schedule, it could end up being longer, but a turnaround date will be established and agreed upon between both parties via email before the process is started.
If an arrangement ends up being needed before the turnaround date that is agreed upon between both parties, it may still be possible to receive your arrangement in time, but a 25% Rush Fee will be added to your invoice.
I currently accept payments using Google Pay and Venmo, as well as Direct deposit payments or checks sent via universities and other organizations. If you would like to use a different method of payment (PayPal, Cashapp, personal checks, etc.), please let me know in the custom arrangement request form and I will try to accommodate as best as I can.
Pricing
I wanted to come up with a pricing system that will be direct and upfront with those who wish to commission me. My current method will be to price my commissions based on each minute of music that I will be arranging, as opposed to by the hour. The tempo you would like the arrangement itself to be will not impact the price, as this price will be based solely on the original song’s length. Because situations exist in which only a portion of a song may be requested to be arranged, or a mash-up/medley is involved, all pricing details will be discussed further over email on a case-by-case basis.
Revision and Changes
Once the arrangement is done, you will have one week to review it and let me know of any revisions you want to have made. These revisions can entail anything from simple chord changes, adding or removing measures, or switching notes around between parts. After reviewing your list of revisions, a new turnaround date will be agreed upon between both parties. At that time, the revised version of the arrangement will be sent to you personally at no extra charge. The arrangement process at this point will be considered done.
If a week goes by after receiving the original arrangement without having heard back about any revisions, the arrangement process will also be considered done.
If an individual or group realizes they want revisions to be made after a week has passed, it may still be possible to get the revisions made, but will cost a fee. The fee may vary, depending on my schedule at the time, as well as the extent of revisions that must be made. Both a price and turnaround date will be agreed upon between both parties before moving on with the late revisions.
Part Tapes
Many groups like using part tapes (MIDI recordings of a part being played on keyboard), as opposed to personally plunking out chords on a piano. After all revisions have been made and the arrangement process is done, you may choose to purchase part tapes and I will directly send you a folder containing part tapes for each part in the arrangement.
The price of these part tapes will be a flat fee of either $25 for any arrangement that is under 10 parts, or $50 for any arrangement that is 10 parts or over. However, if you are purchasing an entire set of songs (whether for a showcase or competition), part tapes will come included for FREE!
There are a few options for receiving these part tapes:
If you select “Yes" in the custom arrangement form, and are paying after the arrangement process is done, the price of the part tapes will be added to your invoice and you will receive your part tapes at the end of the arranging process.
If you select “Yes” in the custom arrangement form, and are paying in advance, the price of the part tapes will be charged using a separate invoice, at the end of the arranging process, and you will receive your part tapes once payment is received.
If you select “Undecided” in the custom arrangement form, you may request part tapes at any point during or after the arrangement process and will be charged using a separate invoice at that time. You will receive your part tapes once payment is received.
